 Q:-  A chunk of brass is initially at 25°C. The brass absorbs 75 J of heat and the temperature increases to 45°C. What size is the chunk of brass (in grams)? The specific heat of brass is 0.38 J/g .C.

solution:-

given,    T1  =  25 degree celcius

              T2  =  45 degree celcius

 heat absorbs, Q =  75 J

specific heat,  C  =  0.38 j/g.C

so,    we know  that

    Q  =   m C (T2  -  T1)

   75  =  m x 0.38 x ( 45 - 25 )

 so,   mass  m  =  9.9  grams

hence ,  mass of the chunk  of brass is 9.9  grams
